Jamie Hawke – Denray Training Manager

On the 15 August 2014 Jamie Hawke left the Royal New Zealand Navy having served 35 years  for his country. On the 18 August 2014 Jamie started a new journey at DENRAY Marine – He accepted the role of Training Manager. This new position comes with new challenges and he is confident he will meet and exceed all expectation.

His first priority is gain OPITO – Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation approval for DENRAY Training to deliver BOSIET – Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training. On the 18 August 2014, Jamie hit the ground running to complete the mission priority.

Tomorrow is the 18 September 2014 and in one month the training team at Denray Training have achieved an amazing amount of work and progress. The focus now is setting to work safety processes necessary to protect delegates and training staff.  At the same time establish best practice training design package and delivery that caters for all delegates  learning needs.

The Denray training team are in the process of conducting a final review documentation for OPITO approval. Essentially the aim is to focused on adding ‘Polish and Gloss’ by utilising Jamie’s wealth of experience in training, design, delivery and all facets of emergency response. Jamie’s navy experience has enabled him to implement SOP’s that are proven ‘Best Practice” processes and procedures.

The small training team have responded well to the ‘New Training Manager’. The expectation is they will submit their application to OPITO on or before the end October 2014.

Denray Training department material preparation are on track as they set to work all Training Simulators and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to run the following BOSIET modules:

  • Sea Survival
  • Basic First Aid
  • Emergency Breathing System – EBS
  • Helicopter Rescue Simulation,
  • Scrambling Net Practical,
  • Life Boat Practical – TEMPSC
  • Helicopter Underwater Escape Training – HUET
  • Escape from smoke filled environment
  • Extinguishing Class A and B fires using a portable Fire Extinguisher

Utilising Jamie’s experience the team have developed a robust set of ‘Safety First, Best Practice’ – System Operator Procedures – SOP for all simulators.

Denray Training is poised to make a significant contribution to the offshore training industry. Based in Auckland, Denray Training will soon be in a position to offer Kiwis and international offshore work force another geographical option when selecting where to complete BOSIET or FOET training.
