Lee Matravers

MERT Lee MatraversLee has been involved in the maritime industry since 1983 and as a Rapid Emergency Response Instructor since 1990. A NZ Registered Comprehensive Nurse since 1996, Lee is also an experienced Emergency Care / Resuscitation Instructor teaching all levels of first aid and advanced care along with sea survival.

With a 30 year background in military medicine, aeromedical evacuation and years as a medical trainer and assessor in the maritime medical environment Lee integrates all aspects of emergency response from the incident to full debriefing including investigations, Occupational Safety and Health and Critical Incident Stress Management.

He is a firm believer in the mentorship of his students and identifying strengths within both teams and individuals’ alike and building competent and confident teams.

Lee has worked extensively in all aspects of emergency management and preparedness with the Royal NZ Navy – Maritime Operational Evaluation Team as the medical specialist assessor. He has also worked with the Australian Navy Sea Training Group undertaking Specialist Sea Safety Training and casualty evacuation.

Lee is married with three adult children, keeps fit and healthy and is a keen sea fisherman and DIY’er, occasionally dabbles at golf and loves most outdoor activities.
